The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Plateau state chapter has said 28 head cattle was rustled from Galeji village in Gembus Langai district of Mangu local government of the state.
MACBAN said this in a statement on how cows were rustled into Sadas village of Fan district of Barkin Ladi local government and signed by Mohammad Nura Abdulahi, chairman and Boro Ardo Yakubu, financial secretary and issued in Jos to newsmen yesterday.
The statement alleged that it was a group of Berom youth who fired at him and continued shooting sporadically to scare the Fulanis around the area away and carted 28 heads of cows and moved them into Sadas village of Fan district in Barkin Ladi local government area of the state.
According to them, the incident has been reported to the divisional police station in Mangu local government area and sector 7 and 8 of operation save heaven,OPSH.
But in a swift reaction, the secretary general of Berom Education and Cultural Organisation (BECO), Da Davou Choji Davou denied any knowledge of cattle rustling to Sadas village in Fan district of Barkin Ladi local government council .In his words: “I am not aware of anything like that.There was no case of cow rustled to Fan to the best of my knowledge,he said.
