WAKE UP ALIMOSHO YOUTHS :- Charity we say begins at home. Parents, Guardians, Religious leaders and the general public have a duty towards ensuring that we have a better society. This we can achieve by ensuring that the right habits are inculcated into our children and wards.
Asiwaju Carlo Babatunde Sonupe made this statement during an exclusive interview with him on the endemic state of drug and substance use by the youths in Alimosho local government area.
Asiwaju Sonupe stated that government alone cannot rid the society of the wreck that has been made over the years as a result of poor parenting and leadership which also includes our religious leaders who are meant to live and lead by exemplary standards and but have failed in their responsibilities.
He emphasised that substance use has degenerated to the primary schóol level which makes the situation a very bad one.
He said religious houses and leaders must come together with parents and guardians to ensure that the right moral standards are upheld in the society noting that the supposed future of our nation are the same youths that have made drugs, substance use and internet fraud their past time which contributes to thé high rate of crime within our community. The situation has deteriorated to the extent that some parents don’t even ask their children or wards where they get money from, Sonupe lamented.
‘We must all bear in mind that money alone does not make a good society rather it’s the people and the values they bring that makes the difference.’
Asiwaju Sonupe eulogised the past and present state governments in Lagos on the state of security and the security trust fund that is being used judiciously.
He therefore called on all and sundry to see this as a wake up call to duty in assisting the state government and by extension the federal government to rid our society of crime. Though we know that it can’t be totally eradicated but it can be reduced to the barest minimum.
He noted that the law enforcement agents are not mind readers or magicians hence the need for cooperation from the society through proper and sincere release of information by members of the society.
Asiwaju Carlo said gainful engagement of youths in various positive activities by community leaders, religious bodies, parents will go a long way to help the government, our society and the lives of our youths.
Sonupe said we can’t afford to have a community of jobless and drug ladened youths .
Please kindly see this as a clarion call for us all to wake up and do the needful as parents, guardians and leaders of today and tomorrow.
The time is NOW !, Alit owners, E Soji Asiwaju cried.
