Economic, social, and political instabilities are the hallmarks of a society wrecked by fierce armed conflicts. Previously, the Cold War became a war of attrition that turned the chief Middle Eastern States of Israel and Palestine into a volatile place. While momentary trepidation and the constant fear of the unknown are trending steadily, what could happen the next minute acutely describes the day-to-day lifestyle of the people, the hope of a ceasefire eroding.
The United Nations and other cognate international bodies rallying around to initiate resolution steps and establish arbitration measures have encountered brick walls thus far. The Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu is capitalizing on the miscalculated October 7th attack on Isreal by Hamas to use the sledgehammer to kill an ant.
This is already beginning to attract both the ire and the sympathy of others, respectively, depending on where one’s interests lie. This relevant discourse will evaluate the different perspectives, the realities on the ground, and the dimming hopes and survival instinct that resonates among the populace.
Stop attacking what should be considered the effects of a fundamental problem while playing the ostrich or avoiding confronting the cause of the raging conflict objectively. It will lead to nowhere. Wishful thinking on this critical subject is largely childish and frivolous. Not less than 5 different occasions, the settlement of this land ownership title has been negotiated and agreed upon, yet the unthinkable demand by the Jerusalem naturalized Palestinians for the nonexistent Israel agitation continues unabated.
Considering the magnanimous capacity and tolerance of the Israelis, virtually all the major social media handles and blogs, from Facebook to Instagram, and Twitter (X) are owned by person(s) of Israeli origin. This notwithstanding, the antagonist posts and commentaries against their kins and kindred are permitted on these social media platforms, consistently unfettered.
Without prejudice to the urgent need to eradicate terrorism and the proponent elements in the global space we all cohabit, the indiscriminate bombardment of the Gaza Strip which is indefensible even under the guise of collateral damage must be discontinued. The bloodletting of innocent civilian casualties stands condemned in the face of any cogent argument whatsoever.
The Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria H.E Abdullah Abu Shawesh made a ridiculous and irrational response during a recent Nigerian private television station morning program. He claimed, quite unfortunately, that the October 7th (7/10) massacre, pogrom, or genocide that Hamas admitted they executed was mere Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated! Upon this insensitive utterance and unconscionable defense, I turned off the television set immediately. When I sat down to ponder on the entire Middle East impasse and protracted crisis, I began to appreciate the dilemma that the People of Book or the Zionists must have found themselves in the effort to resolve this consuming strife.
In the aftermath of the organized violence combined with the ripple effects of war, other far-reaching developments have begun to emerge. Some prominent academic institutions, businesses, and organizations are bearing the brunt with immediate effect.
For example, Sahara reports recently that “Harvard University’s antisemitism backlash has escalated as more than 1,600 Jewish alumni have threatened to withdraw donations.” There are yet some unspoken and unheard-of disincentives and demerits of war now glaringly manifesting. Already, the global intellectual body (and by implication the business environment too) has started a certain level of readjustment owing to the systematic boycotting by Israeli nationals and others in solidarity with their national cause.
Thus, the overall landscape of global transactions has, by expediency considerations, begun to comply with the Israeli-Hamas intensified war development. There is, absolutely no doubt that, like the epoch-making 9/11, the current devastating Middle East crisis would stamp its monumental impact both on the worldview and extant systems and affairs.
On the global screen of the electronic media giant Aljezera, the special program covering the sights and sounds of the present Gaza is both depressing and desponding as it is survival-oriented. Following the scarcity of vehicle-empowered resources like petroleum products and other daily needs commodities, the age-long use of mules for transportation purposes has been reintroduced in Gaza.
There are still other primordial living standards that have resurfaced in the wake of this brutalizing battle which defines the people’s resilience capacity. The unilateral blockage of the supply of these necessities by the Israeli government to the Gaza Strip is targeted to clip the wings of the Hamas terrorist group and frustrate their further moves. This may sound like a tall dream, but the Benjamin Netanyahu-led government reckons it a walkover.
Worthy of note is the keen inquiry into the next destination of investment after the withdrawal of both patronage and donations presently the privilege of organizations and individuals perceived to have demonstrated antisemitism nuances.
Wherever that pendulum will ultimately swing to, the inherent lessons must be learned by all stakeholders, especially the world leaders. The need to take steps towards confronting the bloodthirsty monsters who are bent on spilling others over their parochial interests must be implemented.
The kind of unconventional blitzkrieg that the Hamas terrorist group adopted at the outset of this ravaging and destructive war incident, must be utterly condemned. It is cowardly, inhumane, unconventional, bestial, savage, and therefore reprehensible.
Finally, the economic, social, and political dimensions and repercussions of what is daily unfolding between Israel and Hamas facade of the Palestinians will continue to flicker in for an indefinite time henceforth. It will come to stare us all in the face, shortly.
The devastating effects of the Syria, Russia Ukraine wars of recent (to mention a few) are standing as an albatross to development and sustainable growth, worldwide. As we clamor for de-escalation of resentment and hostilities in all raging war zones, let peace reign and pacificist objective be enthroned. The coexistence and coherence of all humanity in this earthly space are paramount.
The cosmos platform is conducive enough to accommodate an indefinite habitat population. So let us live and let live.
