NACC 65th Anniversary Lagos: Chamber celebrates landmark with inauguration of new president, pledges to boost US-Nigeria trade. Elite gathering marks decades of economic partnership
The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) marked its 65th anniversary and 20th Presidential Inauguration Dinner with a spectacular event at the Lagos Continental Hotel on April 12, 2025.

The celebration, themed “The Power of Cooperation: 65 Years of Optimising Nigerian-American Economic Relations,” drew a distinguished gathering of public and private sector leaders, solidifying the Chamber’s role in fostering bilateral economic ties.

The evening commenced with the national anthems of Nigeria and the United States, symbolising the enduring partnership between the two nations.
For 65 years, NACC has been instrumental in promoting trade, investment, and collaboration, connecting Nigerian entrepreneurs with their American counterparts.
A highlight of the event was the inauguration of Alhaji Sheriff Balogun as the 20th National President of NACC. In his inaugural address, Alhaji Balogun outlined his vision to strengthen U.S.-Nigeria trade relations, aiming to surpass $10 billion in trade volume and unlock the full potential of Nigerian exports.
His leadership team was also unveiled, setting the stage for a new era of growth and collaboration.
The Chamber also welcomed 52 new members, inducting them into the organisation with a sense of shared purpose. Additionally, a 3D model of NACC’s future seven-storey headquarters was revealed, symbolizing the Chamber’s commitment to long-term development and strategic expansion.
NACC honoured outstanding Nigerian and American companies and individuals for their contributions to the economic landscape, as well as past presidents for their enduring leadership.
The event was chaired by Mr. Samaila Zubairu, President of the Africa Finance Corporation, and hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
The guest list featured prominent figures, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperation, Trade and Investment, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Legal icon Aare Afe Babalola, Oil and gas magnate Catherine Uju Ifejika, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller General of Customs, Tech visionary Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Auto industry leader Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, and Former Ogun State Commissioner Otunba Bimbo Ashiru.
As NACC looks towards the future, the event underscored the Chamber’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation and fostering growth between Nigeria and the United States.
