A 35-year-old woman, Nafisat Raji, was on Wednesday sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for stealing a HP laptop valued N45, 000.
The convict had pleaded guilty to the offence and her counsel, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing the convict.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, who sentenced Raji, however, gave her the option to pay a fine of N3, 000.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oladoye Joshua, had told the court that the convict committed the offense on Aug. 8, at about 12:30p.m on Fayemi street, in Osogbo.
Joshua said the convict stole the laptop belonging to one Akindele Deborah and a mobile phone owned by one Olabopo Mubarak.
He said the offence contravened Sections 390(9) and is punishable under Section 383 and 412 of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003. (NAN)
