The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday, showed up at an investigative hearing being conducted on the alleged illegal spending and mismanagement by the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Gbajabiamila joined the House Committee on NDDC after the hearing resumed. He said the decision by the Chairman, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to recuse himself from the probe showed that the lawmakers were out to ensure a credible exercise.
The event had ended abruptly as the acting Managing Director of NDDC, Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei, collapsed while being grilled by the lawmakers.
The event was suspended for about one hour.
The committee is now grilling the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
