The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), at its 61st regular meeting on December 18, 2024, announced the promotion of 4,291 senior officers and confirmed the appointment of one Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and eight Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs). The meeting, presided over by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, aimed to strengthen the Service’s leadership and operational capacity.
DCG S. Chiroma (North-East) and ACGs, including O.A. Adebakin (South-West) and D.A. Nnadi (South-East), were among those confirmed to key leadership positions. These appointments align with the Federal Character Policy outlined in the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, promoting inclusivity and institutional balance.
The promotion exercise saw 80 Deputy Comptrollers rise to Customs Comptrollers, while 151 Assistant Comptrollers advanced to Deputy Comptrollers. Additionally, 612 Chief Superintendents of Customs were elevated to Assistant Comptrollers, among other rank advancements.
In a display of merit-based recognition, 16 officers received special promotions for exceptional contributions to the Service. These changes underscore the NCSB’s commitment to rewarding excellence and fostering a robust and dynamic workforce.
