Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and national Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Olu Falae, Thursday asserted that if Nigeria will have a meaningful future, the report of the 2014 Confab must be implemented by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari through genuine restructuring of the country.
Calling for a massive devolution of powers and resources from the centre to the federating units, Falae’s position was supported by some other eminent personalities who converged on the Premier Hotel, Mokola Hill, Ibadan under the aegis of ‘Conscience of the Yoruba Race’, with the theme, “Restructuring Nigeria: Options and Strategies”.
The personalities included: Prof. Amos Akingba, former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Dr. Akin Onigbinde, Mrs. Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, Mr. Sina Kawonise, Senator Ayo Arise and Dr. Olu Agunloye.
Others were Prof. Wale Are Olaitan, Mr. Yomi Layinka (Special Adviser on Media to Governor Abiola Ajimobi), another former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola, Hon. Dipo Olaitan, Chief (Mrs.) Bola Doherty, Mr. Dare Babarinsa and the Administrator of the group, Mr. Kole Omololu, among others.
