Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has warned that coronavirus is not kind to old age.
El-Rufa’i, who said he could not exactly say how he contracted the virus, spoke in an interview on the Hausa service the state -owned radio, the Kaduna State Media Corporation, monitored in Kaduna on Wednesday.
El-Rufai said he could have died if not for his physicians noting that he strictly followed their instructions while he religiously took his drugs.
He said, “Despite the security around me, I got the virus. This goes to show that the virus does not recognise any personality.
“I can’t exactly say how I contracted the coronavirus. But I was in Abuja and had interacted with many people.
“I was assigned to chair committees by the government. I believe it was from these interactions that I got the virus.
“I’m truly aging. I’m a few steps above 60 and this disease is not kind to the old. I’m old; that is the danger.
“If one is above 50, one should be very careful not to contract the virus. To an aged person with other health complications like diabetes, hypertension, coronavirus will be very deadly.”
Speaking on why he went back to his clean shave looks, the governor said his mother was against his new looks and asked him to shave.
El-Rufai also warned that he would deal decisively with any individual or group who attempted to disrupt measures put in place to check the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
