The Action Alliance (AA), Imo chapter, has reportedly declared that Governor Rochas Okorocha and his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who is the chief of staff of the state, are not members of the political party.
Vanguard reports that the publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Ifeanyi Okponwa-Eze, made the disclosure when he spoke with journalists after a meeting with members at Urualla, Ideato North local council area of the state.
He said it was mere rumour that the Okorocha and Nwosu had joined the AA to actualise the governorship dream of the latter in 2019.
“We want to be unequivocal on this issue. Governor Okorocha ceased being a member of AA, over 10 years ago,” he said, however, noting that Okorocha played a major role at the conception and birth of the AA.
“People must understand that party business is not a one man affair and can never be, no matter the power such a man arrogates to himself,” Okponwa-Eze said, while maintaining that “the party is not a dump site or waste yard.
“AA is neither a dump site nor a waste yard. It is a party where power truly belongs to the masses. We are not ready to make AA a platform for the breeding of future emperors or render it vulnerable for contamination by emperor-like spirit.”
The said the national chairman of AA, Kenneth Udeze, had directed the state executive to “commence a tour of the 27 local council areas, to properly inform members of the true position of the governor and his son in-law.”
