Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault confirmed Monday afternoon that President Trump did, indeed, refer to African countries as “shithole countries” during an Oval Office meeting on immigration earlier this year.
During a joint White House press conference with Trump, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was asked about the reported comments, and he replied: “I’m not sure… whether that allegation against the president was true or not.”
Trump once again didn’t deny the reported quote, instead saying, “We didn’t discuss it. And you do have some countries that are in very bad shape.”
Moments later, Omarosa, who was infamously fired by Trump in dramatic fashion last fall, took to Twitter to write directly to Buhari: “FYI he said it.”
