Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has described as laughable the call by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Force headquarters, Jimoh Moshood that he should resign as governor for failing to protect the lives and property of the people in Benue.
He said, the Police high command should rather resign their appointments because they had failed in enforcing the law.
The governor argued that as the Chief security officer of Benue he does not have the coersive powers to enforce the law, whereas the police and indeed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) who have the powers to enforce the law have failed in this regard.
State Governor, Samuel Ortom made this known in a chat with newsmen at the Benue Peoples’ House, Makurdi on Tuesday.
