Senator Ademola Adeleke, representing Osun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on Wednesday in Osogbo declared that he is absolutely ready to support whoever wins the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of September 22, 2018, gubernatorial election in Osun State.
Adeleke, who is one of the contenders for the PDP’s ticket in the forthcoming poll made this known during a visit to the state executives of the opposition, at the party secretariat, located at Biket area of Osogbo, the state capital.
Addressing party members and loyalists, the lawmaker, who had last week submitted his letter of intention to contest for the governorship poll said “I want to assure that I am ready to back or support whoever emerged as the flag bearer of our great party in the primary exercise.
He disclosed that his decision to contest in the coming poll was as a result of 40 days fasting embarked on by the Adeleke family, stressing that “the outcome of the fasting and prayer is that we are going to serve Osun people. We would use our local and international connection to change the economic fortune of this state for better.”
According to Adeleke, “no more impunity Osun. I am going to serve. If I don’t win the PDP primaries, I would support whoever emerges as the flag bearer. I never knew that I would become a Senator. All the mothers, I am begging you to back me the way you backed me during the Osun West Senatorial election. My campaign promise during the senatorial election of funding a scholarship for indigent students to the tune of N250 million has been fulfilled”.
He continued, “in one of the communities of Iwo, during the campaign, the people said that they needed an industrial generator. I was able to provide them with generator within a month. I also donated transformer to Ido Osun. I have been building schools in Orileowu area
“Very soon, we shall take delivery of 20 new transformers to light up some communities in Osun. I have the confidence of becoming the next governor of Osun State. My confidence is buoyed by the party members, supporters and the generality of the people. I have sponsored so many bills on youth empowerment”, Adeleke remarked.
He, however, promised to uphold party’s supremacy if he becomes the next governor of Osun State, just as he contended that “my first priority as a governor would be agriculture. Since the advent of oil money, a greater number of our people have lost confidence in agriculture. Education in Osun is in ruins with the poor performance of our pupils in public examination. God will make it possible for us to win. I have come to pay a visit to our party”.
