A high level of political immaturity was on display in Ijebu-Ijesa, headquarters of Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday as the campaign rally for the councillorship position into the Local Government parliamentary election billed for next Saturday almost turned bloody.
Reliable eyewitness account told Spear Gists that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) did its campaign rally in the morning without any interference and molestation. The candidate and supporters danced round, canvassing for votes.
The source added that hell was let lose in the afternoon when the Alliance for Democracy started its campaign as mammoth crowd of youths who had axe to grind with the APC and its policies trooped out en mass in support of the party and its candidate.
Not satisfied with the situation, an APC stalwart named Sola Adewumi drew out his gun from his car and shot at the AD crowd of supporters in order to scare them away and disrupt their rally.
The resilient youths were said to have refused to run for their lives but instead moved to his car, over-powered him and collect his gun.
It added that it took the intervention of the security agents to get out of the hook of the youths who would have lynched him. As at press time, he is said to be in the custody of security men in Osogbo, the State capital.
