The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has told Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to “stop misleading the public with fake defections”.
PDP accused the former Abia Governor of massaging “his dwindled ego” before the presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level.
Publicity Secretary, Fabian Nwankwo, lambasted Kalu in a statement on Friday.
The spokesman reacted to the defection of some PDP members to the APC at the Senate Chief Whip’s private residence in Igbere.
Nwankwo said the building cannot contain more than 50 people at a time.
He mocked Orji over his hosting of “thousands of PDP members”, saying it was deceitful and mischievous.
“We challenge Orji Uzor Kalu to make available pictures of the ‘thousands’ of PDP members he purported to have defected to APC in his residence.
“The pictures being circulated in Abia by his cronies do not make up to twenty people despite the fact that the faces in the pictures are also well known APC members,” he said.
He warned the presidency not to allow itself to be hoodwinked by the lawmaker “who is so desperate to please it by hook or crook just to shore up his already battered image”.
Nwankwo advised Abians to ignore the “charade of Kalu and continue to support Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and PDP in their giant strides in the overall development of Abia”.
