Throngs of pensioners in Osun state have hit the streets of Osogbo in protest over the non-payment of their pensions and gratuities.
The pensioners, who carried placards with various inscriptions, berated Governor Rauf Aregbesola for allegedly diverting various bailout funds meant for payment of salaries and for attempting to divert the N12.7bn Paris Club refund paid to the state.
The pensioners marched from Ayetoro through Old Garage to Olaiya Junction.
They were joined by a former Head of Service in the state, Segun Akinwusi, and some human rights activists.
Despite the presence of policemen who were on ground to ensure the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums, the protest caused a traffic gridlock in the capital city.
