While the nation is still coming to terms with the infamous arrest of Tim and Daniel Elombah of elombah.com, the police command in Ikotun, Lagos, has arrested the Online Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, Mr Aliyu Adekule.
According to reports, Adekunle was taking pictures of Okada riders and was accosted by police officers in Ikotun and was forced to enter their van.
Efforts by newsmen to see and speak with him proved abortive.
This comes hours after it was revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a notice of query to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris over the arrest of the Elombah brothers.
THEWILL recalls that the Elombahs were arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force over a report by the site pointing out the many ills of Idris.
Irked by the report, the Police took the brothers in their custody, releasing Daniel after six days and refusing to obey a court order which directed the Police to release Tim.
Several petitions were filed against the Nigeria Police Force and the IGP before, including a publicised petition by Festus Keyamo, after which the police bowed to pressure from the public and released the editor.
In his response to the petition filed by Keyamo, the Presidency revealed that the IGP has been directed to respond to the petition following which necessary action would be taken.
