Police in Bayelsa State have arrested four suspected killers of the police officer attached to Anti Terrorism Unit (CTU) last month at Tombia community of Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Mukan, during a press briefing at the police headquarters on Monday, disclosed that on October 21, 2018, the command’s clearance squad arrested one Funkeye John Timbofa, who later led the Police to arrest other gang members.
He said: “On 21 October, 2018, the command clearance squad arrested one Funkeye John Timbofa ‘m’ 24 years in connection with armed robbery and murder of Corperal Sammy Saturday, of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) on October, 2018 at Tombia roundabout.
The suspect led Police to arrest other members of the gang, the suspects Evans Kuro ‘m’ 20 years, Taye Paul ‘m’ and Diepreye Ogbolafor ‘m’ confessed how the police officer was killed. They confessed to be members of greenland confraternity, investigation is ongoing.”
The police also paraded Junior Daumunabo and Ayibakepreye, the suspected killers of a 16 year-old undergraduate in Bayelsa, Miss Seiyefa Fred, last week.
The Police Commissioner said that most of the crimes committed are driven by cultism and abuse of illicit drugs, nothing that the command has achieved tremendous success in the arrest of suspected cultists.
He called on the people to always cooperate and assist the Police in ensuring peace, security and safety of lives and property in the state.
