Police authorities in Kano said over 15,000 policemen have been deployed for Saturday’s presidential election.
Conforming the development, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the officers and men would be posted to various poling units across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Kiyawa said the deployment was to ensure safety of all election materials.
He said police had concluded arrangements to ensure peaceful election in the state.
“We are ready for the election. We have charged our men to protect lives and properties and ensure that election materials are protected against any harm,” he said.
Similarly, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 2,000 personnel for the election.
The civil defemce’s Public Relations Officer in the state, ASC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi confirmed the development.
Abdullahi said the personnel would complement police during the election.
He said, “We are going to work hand-in-hand with police to ensure a hitch-free poll in the state.”
