Platforms Africa reports that Bello, one of the first clerics to revolutionalised preaching of Islamic message through studio recording, died on Friday, hours to the Jum’ah (congregational) prayer.
The news of his death was announced on Friday by Sheikh Akeugbagold Taofeeq.
He wrote; “Today is one of my saddest days ! My father and mentor, has returned to his creator. SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh muhyideen AJANI BELLO,may Allah be pleased with your soul.
“Aljannah fridaos for you . Our heart is full of grief and our eyes full of tears but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator the sole commander of life and death – ALLAH”
Platforms Africa reports that the news has elicited reactions from the Muslim world with some followers and students penning tributes for Sheikh Bello
Sheikh Muiz Abdullahi, who said that Bello died hours before Friday congregational prayer, prayed unto Allah ti accept his return.
“Dying on Friday and before the Jum’ah peayer is significant in Islam. May Allah accept the return of our father and put hum in Al-Janah Firdaus,” he wrote.

1. Sheikh Muyideen was born in 1940 into the family of Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello of Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Ibadan.

9. Alhaji Muhyideen Bello had on various occasions been invited to spread the message of Islam from all over the world including in the UK, US, neighbouring African countries, among others.
10. He was a fearless preacher who taught the Quran without sentiments.
11. Though he hailed grom Ibadan, Bello lived most of his life in Kaduna, and he is regarded as the most influential of all Islamic preachers of Yoruba origin in northern Nigeria.
12. He was one of the first to spread Islamic message through audio recording.
13. He died on Friday, December 6, 2024, dew hours before Jum’ah congregational prayer.
