The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims suggesting the shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refinery, affirming that the facility is fully operational.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, clarified misinformation circulating in certain media outlets.
“The Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, is not shut down. We wish to clarify that such reports are entirely false,” the statement read.
He further emphasized that operations at the refinery have been verified by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC, confirming the facility’s functionality. Preparations for the day’s loading operations are actively ongoing, he added.
The assurance highlights NNPCL’s commitment to transparency in its operations and the critical role of the Port Harcourt Refinery in meeting Nigeria’s energy needs.
