President Tinubu mourns Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, the Galadiman Kano, praising his contributions to the traditional institution and leadership in the Emirate
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, the Galadiman Kano and a revered senior kingmaker within the Kano Emirate.

Sanusi, who passed away at the age of 92 after a prolonged illness, left behind a significant legacy in the traditional leadership of the region.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Sanusi, the Kano Emirate Council, and the government and people of Kano State.
The prominent figure, known for his significant role in shaping the region’s traditional governance, is survived by numerous children, including Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano State chairman of the All Progressives Congress, as well as many grandchildren.
The President described the late Alhaji Abbas Sanusi as a key pillar in the preservation and development of the traditional institution in Kano, noting that his contributions extended beyond the Emirate and the state.
President Tinubu highlighted that Sanusi’s impact would be remembered for years to come, not only for his political influence but also for his deep commitment to maintaining the cultural integrity of the Kano Emirate.
“Alhaji Abbas Sanusi’s dedication to the development of the traditional institution in Kano and his role in the governance of the Emirate will forever be etched in the history of the region.
His wisdom and influence shaped the leadership of Kano, and his loss is felt deeply by the people of Kano and beyond,” said President Tinubu.
The President further offered prayers for the soul of the departed, asking for peace in Jannatul Firdaus, the highest place in paradise, as he extended his sympathies to the entire Kano community during this time of mourning.
The news of Sanusi’s passing has sent shockwaves through the traditional institution and beyond, with many noting the void left by the loss of such a revered figure.
