Highlighting Oluyede’s exceptional leadership, professionalism, and dedication to national security, Tinubu praised the general’s performance in an acting capacity, which began following the demise of his predecessor, Lieutenant-General Taoreed Lagbaja.
“In line with constitutional provisions and armed forces regulations, his qualifications and contributions make him highly suitable for this vital role,” Tinubu stated, urging the Senate to expedite the confirmation process to ensure continuity in the Nigerian Army’s leadership.
The Senate has referred the nomination to its Committee on the Army for screening. The committee is expected to report back to the plenary for further deliberations and a potential confirmation vote.
Oluyede’s appointment comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen national security. Tinubu expressed confidence in his ability to steer the Nigerian Armed Forces toward greater stability and progress.
