Popular playwright, actor, dramatist and cultural activist, Prof. Akinwunmi Isola, is dead.
According to our sources, the revered poet passed away early hours of today in Ibadan at age 79.
He has been sick for over two years before he gave up the ghost this morning.

Best known for his literary works, and his work in promoting, the Yoruba language, Isola is the author of Efunsetan Aniwura, Madame Tinubu, and translator of Wole Soyinka’s Death and the King’s Horseman and Aké: The Years of Childhood into Yoruba.
Isola, a Professor of Yoruba language has also directed the production of many plays and movies, among them is Oleku and so on.
