The House of Representatives yesterday urged the federal government to provide a N50 billion special fund for the repairs of roads in Niger State. The house demanded that the fund be provided through the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.
Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi (APC, Niger), in a motion, co-sponsored by eight others from the state, said: “Contracts have been awarded to different construction firms for the reconstruction of those roads such as Bida-Lambata, Minna-Suleja, Mokwa-Tegina-Makera-Kaduna with completion periods stretching over 18 to 36 months, but the contract period for these road projects had since elapsed and the work done so far hasn’t exceeded 20℅ completion.”
