A spokesperson for the company confirmed the news, expressing the company’s condolences to Han’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Han, born in 1962, dedicated over 37 years of his life to Samsung, playing a pivotal role in transforming the company’s TV business into a global leader.
His career with Samsung began in 1988 after he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Inha University.
Han’s leadership in the company’s display operations laid the foundation for the success of Samsung’s consumer electronics division, which he helped steer to new heights.
In 2022, Han was appointed as vice chairman and co-CEO of Samsung, overseeing both the consumer electronics and mobile devices divisions.
Under his guidance, Samsung further cemented its position as a global tech giant, particularly in the TV and mobile sectors.
Samsung paid tribute to Han in an internal message, highlighting his invaluable contribution to the company’s growth and innovation.
“He dedicated more than 37 years of his life to leading Samsung’s TV business to become a global leader,” the company said. “Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Despite the tragic news, Samsung has yet to announce Han’s successor. His leadership had remained critical, as evidenced by his role at the company’s recent annual investor meeting, where he addressed concerns about the company’s stock performance and economic uncertainties.
Han remarked on the challenges posed by semiconductor mergers and acquisitions, citing regulatory issues and national interests but reaffirmed Samsung’s determination to produce tangible results in the year ahead.
Han’s death marks the end of an era for Samsung, as he had been one of the key figures driving the company’s success for nearly four decades.
