South-West Governors’ Forum on Wednesday evening met in Ibadan to forge a common position ahead of the forthcoming constitution review exercise.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Akinwumi Ambode, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Akeredolu, Ayodele Fayose and Abiola Ajimobi of Lagos, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo, respectively, were present.
NAN reports that the Ogun State Governor was represented by his deputy, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga.
The meeting was centered on the need for the region to have a common position on national issues and efforts at reviewing the constitution of Nigeria.
Gov Rotimi Akeredolu told newsmen that it was a brief meeting “to put heads together as leaders of the region to have a position to be presented to the national assembly and other stakeholders.
“As you have seen all of us coming together as Oduduwa brothers, we are finding solutions to matters that we believe are of common interest to us all.
“We are doing it together. One of the issues that we tried to look at is the amendment of the constitution.
“We want to forge a common position and ask our houses of assemblies as well as other stakeholders to tow the same line for us to achieve our common goal,” he said.
