Two men who police accused of being members of the “ Eiye confraternity”, on Friday appeared in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.
The police charged Funmilayo Oluwakomiyo and John Fredrick,with felony and unlawful association.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendants and eight others at large on Nov. 15 around 11: 30 p.m., at a secluded bush in Idepe Okitipupa did conspired to commit felony.
Omoyeigha said that the defendants and their accomplice held secret meeting aimed at disturbing the peace of the community.
He said that the defendants committed offences punishable under sections, 516 and 64(a), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Dickson Ogunfuyi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50, 000 each and one surety each in like sum.
Ogunfuyi ordered that the sureties must produce evidence of a year tax clearance as part of bail conditions.
He adjourned the case until Dec. 14 for further hearing.
