The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors have promised to put in place programmes to bring to an end coronavirus, insecurity, crime, and corruption in 2021.
They, however, advised Nigerians to resist attempts by the opposition to politicize insecurity and economic issues.
Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, addressed citizens in a statement on Friday.
He noted that securing lives and property requires strong national unity.
The governors commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination to fix the challenges facing the country.
“We appeal to all Nigerians to continue to support our security forces in the effort to end insecurity in the country. As Progressive Governors, we will continue to support the Federal Government and the security services.
“We restate our commitment to make l our states models of good governance with rapid human development and progress founded on the principles of social democracy in line with provisions of our party constitution and manifesto.
“In 2021, we shall continue to take all the necessary steps to roll out programmes that will consolidate development of synergy, experience sharing and collaboration by all progressive states.”
The statement stressed the need to ensure the development of democratic institutions for effective national responses and resolution of the health problems created by COVID-19.
The governors added that beyond the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, banditry in the North West has surged.
“In addition, kidnapping activities is rampant in North Central and South West and is spreading to every part of the country. Every Nigerians is justifiably disturbed by this unfortunate development.”
The forum expressed confidence that security agencies will effectively restore order and guarantee security of all.
It commended the Presidential Task Force (PTF) for its management of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
