The FDNY carpenter who tried to strangle his boss is a “great guy” who just acted on a common impulse, his neighbor said Sunday.
“Who hasn’t felt like, at least once, strangling their boss?” said the man, who lives next door to accused assailant Shane Toner, after declining to give his name.
“Doesn’t make him a bad guy.”
Toner, 39, left his Maspeth, Queens home earlier Sunday with three children in tow. He declined to answer any questions.
The city employee was busted on the job at his Bronx EMS station following an argument with his supervisor, according to authorities.
The subject of the spat remains unclear.
Toner was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, and issued a desk appearance ticket.
