A political group in Nigeria and the Diaspora, Asiwaju Grassroot Initiative (AGI) disclosed to newsmen why they could not celebrate the birthday of one of their strong pillars and Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Tayo Ayinde.
Speaking with newsmen, the group’s president; Hon.Kunle Adeyemi said “As you all can see, we are all here at the Wake of a *political amazon*; our sister, mother and friend, the late Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson – Yeyesewa of Lagos, who was a notable member of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
“It saddens our hearts that we lost her at this crucial stage of Lagos and Nigeria politics. Yeyesewa was from Ikeja which is my constituency and that of the Chief of staff, Honorable Tayo Ayinde too. And as such we can’t celebrate his birthday on a day like this”.
“Even our members in Texas have been planning a party for him but the Chief of Staff asked them to cancel it because of the situation on ground. He only requested that they should join him in prayers as the task ahead is enormous. He counseled that there is time for everything and this moment is best dedicated to the fond memories of the late Yeyesewa; while he also urged us to pray for the family and the repose of the soul of the late women’s leader” Kunle Adeyemi said.
Adeyemi also urged Lagosians to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for 2nd term and come all out for Asiwaju, “tell your families and friends all over Nigeria to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2023 because Asiwaju is the only candidate that can move Nigeria forward” he said.
Speaking further, he revealed that the group on behalf of Asiwaju and Sanwo-Olu will be giving out exercise books to students as they resume next month in Lagos, Southeast, Southwest and North Central states. “We are going to reach out to market women and the less privileged too, we promise to carry you along as we unfold our activities”, Adeyemi concluded.
