President Obama took a well-deserved moment to gloat about the resilience of his landmark Affordable Care Act, poking fun at his successor by pointing out that the law is more popular than Trump is.

“The Affordable Care Act has never been more popular — and it’s more popular than the current president” boasted the former President at a private function last night. He went on to predict serious difficulties for Republicans planning to try to amend or otherwise alter the legislation colloquially known as “Obamacare” due to its popularity with the public.

Trump is finishing his first 100 days with an approval rating of 43%, according to PublicPolicyPolling, the lowest of any first-term president, while 47% of voters support Obamacare. 51% of voters still wish we had Obama as our president.

Trump and the GOP’s efforts to repeal and “replace” Obamacare were stymied for a second time this week as Democrats threatened to shut down the government if they brought up the enormously unpopular and morally repulsive collection of corporate handouts entitled the “American Healthcare Act” for a vote.

Obama definitely has reason to celebrate.
