She has not been campaigning along with President Muhammadu in his re-election bid and this has raised concern as to her whereabouts.<\/p>\n

But metronews understands that she is currently in Germany for medical reasons, although her office has refused to confirm or deny the speculation.<\/p>\n

When metronews contacted Suleiman Haruna, media aide to the president\u2019s wife, he said he did not have any comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, honestly, I don\u2019t have any comment on that. People have been calling me. I don\u2019t have any comment on that,\u201d Haruna said.<\/p>\n

Speaking with metronews on Wednesday, a presidency source explained that the president\u2019s wife has not been seen campaigning for her husband \u201cbecause she is ill\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor about two weeks now, you will observe that the president\u2019s wife has not been campaigning. She is ill and she has travelled abroad for treatment,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the month, Buhari\u2019s wife set up a 700-member team for her husband\u2019s second term bid.<\/p>\n

The large team, mainly made up of women, was inaugurated by the president on January 4 at Aso Rock.<\/p>\n

At the event, she explained that her team would serve as a support to the main campaign council co-chaired by Bola Tinubu, former Lagos governor and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will operate as a sister body with necessary legwork and outreach and will mobilise women and youths across the country,\u201d the president\u2019s wife said.<\/p>\n

She then led her team to a rally in Kano state on January 5.<\/p>\n

But that was about the last time she was seen in public working for her husband\u2019s reelection bid.<\/p>\n

On January 12, her team arrived Owerri, Imo state, to campaign but she was absent.<\/p>\n

Aisha was represented by Dolapo, co-chairperson of the team and wife to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.<\/p>\n
