\u201cA ceasefire with Hamas means surrender,\u201d he told Fox News, adding there was no \u201ctimetable\u201d for the military offensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think the Israeli army is performing exceptionally well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHowever long it takes, we\u2019ll do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas after the militant group poured across the border from Gaza on October 7, killing 1,400 people, mostly civilians and taking around 240 people hostage, according to Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retaliatory aerial bombing and ground offensive has killed more than 10,800 people in Gaza, mostly civilians and many of them children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Netanyahu said Israel has no plans to remain in Gaza long-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t seek to govern Gaza. We don\u2019t seek to occupy it, but we seek to give it and us a better future,\u201d he said, adding that Israel does not \u201cseek to displace anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pushed on his plan for Gaza\u2019s future, he said the impoverished and blockaded territory must be \u201cdemilitarized, deradicalised and rebuilt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have to find a government, a civilian government that will be there,\u201d he added, without detailing who might form such a government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And he said Israeli forces would have to remain ready to reenter Gaza and \u201ckill the killers\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what will prevent the reemergence of a Hamas-like entity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The October 7 attack and subsequent conflict came as Israel moved closer to a peace deal with Saudi Arabia, building on the so-called Abraham accords that normalised ties with several Arab countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Netanyahu insisted the conflict would not torpedo diplomatic momentum and that conditions would be \u201cripe\u201d for negotiations to resume after Israel destroys Hamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
