The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been listed on Forbes\u2019 100 Most Powerful Women list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Forbes\u2019 20th annual ranking released on Tuesday, the Nigerian economist held the 87th spot, while South African businesswoman Mpumi Madisa, ranked 88th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tanzanian President, Samia Hassan, also made her debut on the list at the 93rd position, alongside Nigerian media mogul and philanthropist, Mo Abudu at the 98th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Business magazine explained that the list was compiled using money, media, impact, and spheres of influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the development, Okonjo-Iweala wrote on X via her official handle, \u201cFeel truly honoured to be named one more time as one of the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women in the World.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis will be the 7th time, starting in 2011. Congratulations to all the women on this list, working hard to make a difference and, to others working hard to change the world even if they are not on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSpecial congratulations to my younger sister, Mo Abudu, great to have two Nigerian women on this list.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okonjo-Iweala is the seventh director-general of the WTO. She took office on 1 March 2021, becoming the first woman and the first African to serve as Director-General. Her term of office will expire on 31 August 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
