President Muhammadu Buhari son, Yusuf, has been flown abroad (to Germany) on Thursday morning for medical treatment, but against the counsel of the doctors attending to him.
Yusuf, who was involved in a bike accident at Gwarinmpa in Abuja on Tuesday night, was treated at Cedacrest Hospital where he had surgery for a broken limb and a severe head injury.
Contrary to reports, Yusuf has been in a critical condition and was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
However, it was also gathered that the decision to fly him abroad was not fully supported by the doctors at Cedacrest who counselled that he be allowed to stabilise before the trip explaining that it is could be dangerous to move him out of the ICU.
Unsatisfied and worried about his status, the President’s family, supported by some of the family doctors, went ahead with its plans and got an air ambulance to convey Yusuf to a German hospital.
Sources confirmed that he was driven to the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport, Abuja, amidst tight security in an ambulance with oxygen support.
He was then transferred into an air ambulance under the care of a Nigerian doctor and three paramedics.
He is currently air borne.
